About the Role

The Director, Magnet and Nursing Professional Practice is a key leadership position at ECU Health Medical Center, responsible for cultivating and sustaining a professional practice environment that embodies excellence in nursing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Magnet Designation Efforts: Develop and implement strategies to achieve and maintain Magnet designation, ensuring a culture of excellence in nursing practice.
  • Shared Decision-Making: Establish and lead shared decision-making structures to support exemplary professional practice, quality care, and patient outcomes.
  • Magnet Application and Site Visit Preparation: Oversee the Magnet application submission, site visit preparation, and interim reports to ensure successful designation.
  • Nurse-Sensitive Indicator Data: Evaluate and disseminate nurse-sensitive indicator data, organizational quality outcomes, and national benchmarks to inform nursing practice and improve patient care.
  • Education and Mentorship: Provide education and mentorship to leaders and the nursing team on Magnet principles and processes.
  • Specialty Certification and Recognition Programs: Administer specialty certification programs and contracts, track and trend data, and oversee recognition programs such as DAISY.
  • Journey to Magnet Excellence and Re-Designation: Assess, implement, and develop structures and processes for successful Journey to Magnet Excellence and re-designation activities.
  • Budgeting and Partnerships: Manage budgeting dollars for external consultants and internal Magnet re-designation partnerships.
  • Culture of Excellence: Foster strong professional relationships with other nursing communities, professional organizations, and external consultants to enhance a culture of excellence.
  • Publication and Presentation: Actively participate in publication and presentation at the local, state, and national level on behalf of ECU Health.
Requirements
  • MSN required; Doctorate in Nursing (PhD or DNP) preferred.
  • Active unencumbered NC RN License required.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Magnet program or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years relevant progressive leadership experience with experience leading in a Magnet organization, preferably in a large academic medical center.
