Compensation: The salary typically starts between $4,000 and $5,500 per 3-credit hour course, with variations based on the lecturer's qualifications and experience. Compensation is prorated according to course credit hours.

Overview

The College of Engineering & Applied Science at UCCS aims to establish a pool of qualified Lecturers in Computer Science for future temporary, non-tenure track appointments. These positions are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be filled on a semester-by-semester basis. The Computer Science Department offers a range of degrees, including BS, BA, and BI in Computer Science; BI degrees in Game Design and Development, and Cybersecurity; MS in Computer Science; ME in Cybersecurity; and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.

This position involves teaching various courses within the Computer Science department. Course offerings may include:

  • Programming in Java, C, C++, C#, Python
  • Data Structures
  • Unix
  • Web Programming
  • Computer Architecture
  • Concepts of Programming Languages
  • Databases
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Ethics in Computing
  • Principles of Cybersecurity
  • Assembly Language and Computer Organization

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field such as Mathematics, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least four months of teaching experience.
  • Interest or capability in delivering online courses.
  • Relevant industry experience with ongoing professional engagement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement is required while performing job duties.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills are necessary.
