The Materials Distribution Specialist I is responsible for overseeing the daily inventory levels within the nursing units by conducting counts and replenishing supply carts, as well as transferring stock to various departments.

This role involves monitoring stock levels and expiration dates, preparing necessary supplies and equipment, and ensuring timely delivery to all hospital areas as required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluates supply requests and retrieves items from inventory to fulfill departmental requisitions.
Conducts counting, stocking, and replenishing of supply carts, and facilitates inventory transfers to user departments.
Monitors expiration dates of supplies and replaces items as necessary.

Checks inventory levels and replenishes supply exchange carts as required, maintaining established par levels for each nursing unit and department.

Utilizes handheld devices and Lawson software to enter and retrieve supply data. Develops, modifies, prints, and deletes system-generated par level sheets, departmental refill requisitions, and exchange cart replenishment documents.
Delivers supplies to designated departments and/or nursing units as per schedule or on an as-needed basis.

Inputs data into the computer system and performs general clerical tasks essential for organizing, tracking, and managing incoming and outgoing supplies.

Cross-trains and supports all areas of the Materials Department to ensure seamless service coordination.
Maintains supply carts in an orderly, clean, and organized manner, adhering to cleaning schedules. Assists with annual physical inventory counts or as required.

Effectively utilizes automated systems to complete work assignments and performs related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred training and experience in the distribution and supply of hospital or related products.

EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

It is essential for individuals in this role to practice universal precautions, utilize personal protective equipment, and be knowledgeable about infection control policies.
