Job Summary:

The Central Sterile Processing Technician is a vital member of the Good Samaritan Hospital team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining and processing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reprocess and assemble medical instruments and equipment to ensure they are sterile and ready for use.
  • Lift and transport heavy items weighing up to 50lbs to designated areas.
  • Identify, maintain, and prepare instruments and equipment to ensure availability when required.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including sterilizers, washers, and decontamination equipment.
  • Test and maintain sterilizers and washers, documenting required information and maintaining records.
  • Ensure accurate inventory levels and restock equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Scan instrument sets using current programs available in the Central Service department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Two years' experience in Central Service preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Central Service Technician Certification from an accredited organization, such as IAHCSMM or CBSPD, or equivalent.
  • Current staff working under NY State Law A00878 who are not certified are grandfathered to the position and must provide 10CEUs per calendar year.
