Central Sterilization Specialist

Job Summary:
The Central Sterile Services Technician at Good Samaritan Hospital is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of sterilization and infection control in our medical facilities. This critical role involves the preparation, sterilization, and maintenance of medical instruments and equipment, adhering to established procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reprocess and assemble specialized instruments and equipment for operative areas.
- Lift and transport heavy items weighing up to 50lbs to designated areas.
- Identify, maintain, and prepare instruments and equipment for optimal availability.
- Operate specialized equipment, including washers, steam sterilizers, STERRAD sterilizers, and decontamination equipment.
- Test steam sterilizers and washers regularly, documenting required information and maintaining records.
- Ensure accurate inventory numbers and restock equipment and supplies as needed.
- Scan instrument sets using current programs available in the CS department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Experience: Two years' experience in Central Service is preferred.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Licenses/Certifications: Central Service Technician Certification from an accredited organization, such as IAHCSMM or CBSPD, or equivalent.
