Key Responsibilities
  • Servicing designated areas. A company vehicle and necessary equipment are included in the package.
  • Conducts loss control assessments and physical inspections of commercial accounts:
    • Provides underwriters with an accurate depiction of the physical and operational details of an insured.
    • Identifies hazards and potential loss exposures and makes recommendations to eliminate or mitigate the potential loss.
    • Consults with underwriters and other staff regarding account/line-of-business acceptability, exposures, and controls pertinent to various lines of business.
    • Assists underwriters and other staff relative to account operations, exposures, construction, and protection.
    • Conducts accident investigations and loss analyses to identify root causes.
    • Employs effective sales and communication skills to achieve compliance with recommendations and provides safety and/or supervisory training to insureds.
    • Conducts joint marketing presentations, in conjunction with Underwriting, Claims, and Marketing, to accounts and agents.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of company/department manuals and procedures, as well as relevant Federal, State, and other pertinent codes and regulations applicable to Property, Liability, and Casualty lines of coverage.
  • Provides technical guidance, assistance, and training to junior positions.
  • May lead the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates, and reviews assignments).
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Field of Study: Safety, Engineering, Insurance, Business, or a related discipline.

Experience: Generally, 10 or more years of related experience. Certification in the area of chosen expertise is a plus; appropriate certifications could include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Associate Risk Management (ARM), Certified Safety and Health Management (CSHMS), Associate Loss Control Management (ALCM), or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).

Compensation: The wage range for this position is based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, experience of the candidate, the role's scope, complexity, and other business and organizational needs. In addition to the base compensation, we offer a competitive Total Rewards package, which includes but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees.
