Electrical Systems Technician III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Electrical Systems Technician III, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our spacecraft and launch vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, repair, and evaluate battery packs for various spaceflight systems
  • Develop, qualify, and produce battery power distribution products in support of New Glenn missions
  • Work in a battery development lab, requiring a high level of proficiency in technical aspects of the work
  • Perform different tests to stress and qualify new designs
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with fabricating, inspecting, and repairing battery packs
  • Experience with wire stripping, crimping, and splicing using both manual and automated processes
  • Experience with testing/trouble shooting tools such as a digital multi-meter, milli-ohm meter, insulation tester or Hi-Pot test equipment
  • At least 3 years' experience in Battery or related fields
  • Attention to detail and passion for space
  • Familiarity with torquing procedures, sizing fasteners and harness assembly/disassembly
  • Experience and capability to interface with software systems such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with high voltage electronics and the safety procedures inherent to high voltage work
  • Familiarity working with digital work order-based systems as well reading electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and dimensional layout drawings
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, and wiring schematics
  • Ability to install and operate instrumentation including strain gages, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, and analog circuitry
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in launch vehicle or battery system assembly, vehicle integration, testing and processing
  • Experience with all types of solder termination and splicing
  • Experience with on-vehicle repairs and working with different levels of cleanliness (Gross, Visual or clean room)
  • Certification in and/or Knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection
  • IPC 620/620 Space Addendum certifications as well as IPC J-STD certifications (past or present)
