Job Summary

:

Perform thorough troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of structural systems at City facilities, including roofs, doors, windows, building exterior and interior elements, and interior finishes.Conduct office renovations and construction projects, including the construction of decks and porches.Supervise junior technicians and contractors performing similar structural tasks, providing training and guidance on proper maintenance procedures, techniques, and worksite safety.Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on building systems other than structural, including light HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and other systems.Assist in the budget preparation process, write work orders, locate and order parts, and maintain accurate maintenance files and records.Participate in process improvement activities and workgroups to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

:

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.

Requirements

:

High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college education in a construction or maintenance trade, or a closely related field, preferred.Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets City of Chesapeake standards.Special skills or equipment certification may be required.Minimum one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Working Conditions

:

May require exposure to confined spaces.May be required to work hours in excess of normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
