Position: Systems Engineer II

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI w/ Poly Required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user requirements, operational concepts, and high-level system architectures to create system requirement specifications.
  • Lead design and development efforts based on system requirements.
  • Assist users in formulating requirements, recommend alternative solutions, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical guidance for integrating requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into existing operations.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Create system architecture and design documentation.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through the preparation of management plans and integration/testing plans.
  • Engage with government representatives regarding technical considerations and associated challenges.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables in the Systems Engineering domain.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, government officials, and senior management.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Java programming for distributed systems, with experience in networking and multi-threading.
  • Familiarity with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, and NiFi.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong foundation in Linux and knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl).
  • Experience with source code management tools and practices.
  • Proficient in enabling tools such as Git, Maven, and Jira.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/Pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Monitoring tools, including the ELK Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana) and Nagios.
  • Ability to implement comprehensive SOA solutions.
  • Experience with DoDAF standards for architectural views.
  • Review and approve system engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage changes to requirements effectively.
  • Support the planning and testing of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process.
  • Provide technical direction for the development and integration of complex hardware/software systems.
  • Develop operational concepts that outline interactions between the system, users, and the environment.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional performance areas.
  • Coordinate system integration activities among multiple teams.

Desired Skills:

  • Support users in requirement formulation and feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical support for integrating requirements and design.
  • Assist in the development and publishing of program schedules and technical deliverables.
  • Experience in a cross-Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.

Education/Certifications:

  • A minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in similar programs and contracts is required. A Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, five (5) years of additional experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
