We are currently in search of a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to contribute to a nationally significant and dynamic program. This role requires an individual to assist in the integration of new functionalities into a sophisticated system characterized by stringent interface, performance, and security specifications. The chosen candidate will join a team of Security Engineers tackling complex challenges within a large-scale program. A solid grasp of security protocols and policies, along with practical experience in vulnerability assessment, is essential for this position. The selected individual will work collaboratively with fellow engineers and technical specialists to enhance our operational, testing, integration, and development systems.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will engage in a variety of tasks daily, drawn from a broad spectrum of activities. The most qualified candidates will possess experience in the following areas:

  • Validating and verifying security requirements for systems and establishing security designs for large-scale systems, major system components, and interfacing systems within a complex network environment with geographically dispersed elements.
  • Identifying and implementing suitable information security architectures and functionalities to ensure consistent application of security policies and enterprise solutions.
  • Advising on and developing technical solutions, products, and standards based on current and desired security architectures.
  • Assessing and mitigating security threats and risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Leading and/or contributing to security planning, assessments, risk analyses, risk management, certification, and awareness initiatives for various system and networking operations.
  • Collaborating effectively with other internal technical experts on a daily basis.
  • Communicating with Program Managers and Points of Contact from customer organizations regarding significant security issues as necessary.
  • Participating in program increment planning and related agile team activities.
  • Working closely with System Engineering, Test Engineering, and Integration teams to ensure that hardware and software architectures meet security requirements for processing sensitive information.
  • Analyzing and evaluating system implementations against multiple security compliance standards and recommending enhancements.
  • Assessing the impact of new developments on the operational security posture of the system.
  • Reviewing and testing security-critical software.
  • Proposing, assessing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Conducting audits and assessments of system security configuration settings using established methodologies and tools.
  • Managing and enforcing security strategies and policies affecting various components of geographically distributed systems.
  • Evaluating security solutions to ensure compliance with customer-specified requirements for processing sensitive information.
  • Providing configuration management for security-relevant information system software.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in security architecture, offering guidance to Program Managers, customer technical experts, and internal program teams.
  • Formulating security compliance requirements for new system features.
  • Identifying and addressing security issues throughout the system.
  • Supporting risk assessments, risk management, security control assessments, continuous monitoring, service design, and other Information Assurance program support functions.
  • Collaborating with development teams to enhance team-wide understanding of various vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and remediation strategies.
  • Planning and executing security verification testing of relevant type 1 devices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clearance: TS/SCI w/ FS Poly
  • Must possess Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification.
  • Must hold Information System Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) Certification.
  • Must have experience applying Risk Management Framework.
  • Must have experience in formulating and assessing IT security policies.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with common security tools, such as Nessus, NMAP, and Wireshark, as well as hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, encryption techniques/tools, and web services.
  • Must have experience with secure configurations of commonly used desktop and server operating systems.
  • Must be adept at managing multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices.
  • Must be capable of effectively planning and prioritizing tasks and communicating clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
  • Must be able to perform high-quality work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience with Defense in Depth principles/technology, including access control, authorization, identification and authentication, public key infrastructure, network, and enterprise security architecture, as well as applying risk assessment methodologies to system development.
  • Experience in developing and implementing integrated security services management processes, such as assessing and auditing network penetration testing, anti-virus planning assistance, risk analysis, and incident response.
  • Experience providing information assurance support for application development, including system security certifications and project evaluations for firewalls that encompass development, design, and implementation.
  • Experience with penetration testing tools.
  • Experience with scripting languages.
