As a mathematics teacher in our district, you will be responsible for ensuring that all your students achieve ambitious academic outcomes. This will involve:
- Planning data-driven, standards-aligned, and differentiated units, lessons, and activities;
- Delivering clear, accurate, and rigorous lessons with a range of instructional and formative assessment techniques;
- Establishing and maintaining a supportive, productive, and positive learning environment with strong classroom management practices;
- Monitoring and communicating about student progress while engaging in continuous reflection, adjustment, and professional development.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Proven experience accelerating measurable student learning in urban schools;
- Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education;
- A minimum of two years' successful classroom teaching experience;
- Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance;
- New York State teacher certification in their subject area, or the ability to obtain it by the first date of employment.
The current starting salary for SCSD teachers is $53,000. With proof of outside related experience and college transcripts, the salary will be increased pursuant to the Unit 1 contractual agreement. Teachers will also have opportunities to teach in our Summer School Programs, receiving an hourly rate of $42.69. Additionally, teachers of color or those with experience and a deep background in Urban Education may qualify for the District's Urban Fellowship Program.
