Job Title: Homeless Engagement Counselor

Eliot is seeking a dedicated Clinician to join our team and provide critical services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Homeless Engagement Counselor will perform outreach and engagement activities to identify homeless individuals in public places, drop-in centers, meal sites, and shelters. The successful candidate will provide clinical services, including crisis intervention and counseling, as well as concrete services such as providing warm clothing, blankets, and food to reduce the risk of harm on the streets.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to identify homeless individuals and provide support services.
  • Provide clinical services, including crisis intervention and counseling, to individuals in need.
  • Offer concrete services, such as providing warm clothing, blankets, and food, to reduce the risk of harm on the streets.
  • Encourage the use of shelter, meal sites, and other services and public entitlements, and facilitate linkage to these services when accepted by homeless individuals.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of local public and private resources, including housing, residential programs, and other community organizations, and maintain positive working relationships with representatives of these organizations.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Public Health to ensure the effective use of resources.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health, social work, or a related field, and experience working with homeless populations. A car is required for this position, and mileage reimbursement will be provided.

Location:

This position is based in Quincy, MA, and will involve community-based work co-located at Father Bill's adult shelter, with engagements in the surrounding communities of Weymouth, Randolph, and Braintree.
