Position Overview

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Role Summary: The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and healthcare provider, fostering a collaborative approach to patient management. This position demands delivering age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and core values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates patient intake processes and adheres to the provider's schedule, ensuring efficiency and precision.
  • Documents essential patient information, including chief complaints, vital signs, and pain levels, while conducting necessary assessments.
  • Reviews and documents patient allergies and reconciles medication lists, preparing orders for provider approval as needed.
  • Assesses patient health history, focusing on preventative care and utilizing resources for patient education and follow-up as directed by the provider.
  • Communicates any changes in patient health status to the provider promptly.
  • Delivers high-quality care in both urgent and primary care environments as required.
  • Assists in managing inventory and receipt of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Complies with standards and protocols for diagnostic testing, including specimen collection and documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and committees as assigned, contributing to team collaboration and a patient-centered approach.
  • Maintains knowledge of relevant standards, policies, and infection control practices.
  • Ensures cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Completes annual competencies and continuing education requirements for Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Monitors compliance with operational checklists, including room stocking and equipment maintenance.
  • Supports the training of non-licensed clinical staff as needed.
  • Actively engages in departmental initiatives that reflect the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must achieve Network Medical Assistant Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of healthcare experience; prior experience in ambulatory care is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records and practice management systems.
  • Understanding of medical assistant standards of care is essential.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Compensation: The hourly pay rate for this position is $20.00.
