POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare team under the guidance of the Clinic Manager. This position is integral to the effective delivery of patient care and health management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute designated nursing and administrative tasks while assisting physicians as necessary.
  • Prepare patients for consultations and treatments by escorting them from the waiting area to examination rooms, along with gathering medical histories and vital signs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of examination and treatment areas.
  • Administer injections, conduct EKGs, assist during examinations, and provide various patient care services as instructed.
  • Dispense medications as per provider directives and manage pharmacy orders as needed.
  • Oversee the inventory of sample medications, maintaining logs and disposing of expired items appropriately.
  • Organize and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Support telephone communications by providing information and screening calls directed to the physician.
  • Assist in scheduling diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures.
  • Contribute to the formulation of policies and procedures.
  • Guide patients in establishing self-management goals, instructing them on self-care tasks and reporting any abnormal findings to the healthcare provider.
  • Collaborate with patients, providers, and Care Team members to evaluate progress towards individual health objectives.
  • Identify obstacles when patients fail to meet treatment goals or adhere to care plans.
  • Engage in professional development activities and maintain relevant professional affiliations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA, while promptly reporting any potential violations.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards.
  • Treat all members of the Care Team, patients, and visitors with respect and dignity.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
  • Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Conduct CLIA waived tests with proficiency.
  • Handle phone inquiries as directed by the physician.
  • Ensure examination rooms are properly cleaned and stocked.
  • Manage the proper handling and storage of all sample medications kept on-site.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current licensure/certification is mandatory.
  • LPN must be a graduate from an accredited institution with a valid state license. Medical Assistant must hold current certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Must demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to operate within established policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours daily.
  • Proficient use of standard office equipment, including telephones and computer keyboards.
  • Consistently work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Utilize manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing on a continuous basis.
  • Regularly engage in standing, walking, and sitting activities while employing eye-hand coordination and color differentiation.
  • Occasionally reach above shoulder height and lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional travel may be required, including air travel and driving rental vehicles.
  • Must be capable of transporting personal luggage and portable computing devices weighing approximately 25 lbs.
