Job Summary

Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Safety Specialist to join our team at the Iovance Cell Therapy Center (iCTC) in Philadelphia. As an Occupational Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting compliant EHS programs across all departments at the iCTC facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Regulatory Management: Ensure federal, state, and local environment and safety laws, regulations, codes, and consensus standards are met, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • EHS Program Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to achieve regulatory compliance and continuous performance improvement.
  • Incident Management and Reporting: Manage the day-to-day requirements and activities of the EHS incident management and reporting system.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide input to policies and procedures and assist with the development and delivery of associated training presentations.
  • Inspections and Audits: Complete job hazard analysis (JHAs) and safety inspections, assist with IH monitoring, incident investigations, and environmental reporting and permit compliance.
  • Hazardous and Biohazardous Waste Management: Ensure proper handling, documentation, inspection, and transportation of regulated wastes.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Participate in and support EHS operational and tier discussions, safety committees and teams, self-assessments, and audits.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Process Safety Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years direct occupational safety work experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Technical working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as CDC, NIH, BMBL guidelines, and other regulations and consensus standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: CIH, and/or CSP certification desirable.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response: First Aid, EMT, or Paramedic certification desirable.
  • Operational Excellence: Working knowledge of six-sigma and operational excellence a plus.
  • Biotechnology Experience: Experience with GMP environments and biotechnology processes preferred.
Work Environment

This position will work in both an office and a manufacturing lab setting. When in the lab, must be able to work in Lab setting with various chemical/biochemical exposures, including latex and bleach. Able to work in cleanroom with biohazards, human blood components, and chemicals. Potential exposure to noise and equipment hazards and strong odors.
