Job Overview
King County is seeking to hire multiple Term Limited Temporary (TLT) and Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Transit Customer Information Specialists. This role is pivotal in providing assistance to customers regarding transit routes, schedules, fares, transfer points, and various transit services through our Customer Information Office.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers in planning their transit journeys across the Puget Sound region.
- Utilize diverse reference materials to provide accurate transit service and related information.
- Handle customer inquiries, commendations, complaints, and requests through various communication channels including phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Process fare media sales over the phone and support customers with the ORCA fare card and mobile ticketing systems.
- Manage lost items delivered to the Lost and Found Office and respond to inquiries regarding items lost on transit services.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience in a customer service environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding maps, timetables, and fare media.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks, especially web-based or emailed customer contacts.
- Demonstrated computer skills and the ability to learn new applications.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- A commitment to serving a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with public transit systems, either personally or professionally.
- Experience delivering exceptional customer service in a high-volume call center.
- Skills in assisting individuals with challenging inquiries.
- Basic knowledge of the geography of the Puget Sound area.

Work Environment
This position primarily involves desk work utilizing a phone and computer, with a hybrid telework and office setting. Some shifts may require physical activity, including lifting up to 40 lbs and remaining on your feet for extended periods.
