Key Responsibilities:
MV Transportation is in search of a Safety Operations Manager who will take a proactive role in implementing safety programs and procedures that align with State and Federal regulations, as well as corporate and client policies. This position is crucial for overseeing the Drive Cam and OSHA/CDL compliance at the division level.
The Safety Operations Manager will ensure that all operators are up-to-date with the necessary training requirements set forth by the company and contractual obligations.
This role involves the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive safety plans.
Collaborating with management to identify hazards and supervising the reporting of safety incidents is essential.
The manager will also be responsible for creating safety and security training programs, ensuring adherence to the client's Hazard Management Plan.
It is vital to maintain current safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices that meet the operational needs of the divisions.
The individual will serve as the authority on EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance, and regulations.
The role includes ensuring the effective use of safety technology tools, analyzing trend data, and formulating plans to mitigate and prevent future safety incidents.
The manager will oversee Corporate Safety Incentives and ensure programs are managed consistently, including the assignment of Safety Points.
A consistent Safety Culture will be promoted across all locations, integrating operations, safety, and maintenance departments, emphasizing teamwork and individual accountability to achieve shared objectives.
The Safety Operations Manager will lead the successful completion of all relevant audits conducted by corporate and client staff, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies.
This position also involves guiding the division in safety organization, focusing on both classroom and practical instruction in vehicle operation for passenger transportation, covering topics such as defensive driving, service area familiarization, passenger loading and unloading, proper documentation, use of onboard equipment, accident and emergency procedures, dispatch and radio communications, and passenger sensitivity.
The manager will review all reports related to vehicular, passenger, and employee accidents/incidents to determine causes and preventability, identifying trends for future training initiatives.
Providing expertise in safety during the hiring process for safety department exempt employees is also a key responsibility.
Ensuring that all training materials are current, necessary supplies are available, and inventories are managed effectively is crucial.
A valid Bus Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program Certificate from the Transit Safety Institute (TSI) is required, along with experience and qualifications for overseeing agency safety plans (ASP) and safety programs in public transportation operations.
