Position Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) II provides essential nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or physician, adhering to the legal scope of practice and established care standards. This role requires a blend of educational background, technical skills, and patient interaction abilities to foster trust and cooperation among patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Nursing Duties:

  • Conduct patient care activities, tailored to the age-related needs of assigned patients.
  • Assist healthcare professionals during specialized procedures, minor surgeries, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Evaluate and monitor patient conditions, promptly notifying the physician or healthcare provider of any changes.
  • Document unusual findings and suggest modifications to the care plan as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians and RNs to create personalized care plans based on clinical evaluations.
  • Track patient progress in accordance with the established care plan, ensuring compliance with practice standards.
  • Engage in discussions regarding patient status and treatment outcomes with the healthcare team.
  • Prepare for and assist in various medical procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members about patient responses to interventions.
  • Ensure timely completion of routine and priority tasks within departmental deadlines.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, following established protocols.
  • Oversee patient flow and coordinate with ancillary staff as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and comprehend procedures performed by physicians.
  • Educate patients about examination processes, tests, and medical procedures to alleviate anxiety.
  • Support and mentor new LVNs and students, fostering a positive learning environment.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Perform clerical duties, including answering calls, scheduling appointments, and managing electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient treatments and care in medical records.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper equipment sanitation.
  • Inspect and calibrate medical equipment, documenting quality control results and reporting malfunctions.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and adhere to regulations regarding protected health information (PHI).
  • Deliver quality care in line with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer medications and treatments in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Maintain licensure and complete required continuing education to meet accreditation standards.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing program.
  • California LVN license and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in basic nursing skills and medical procedures.
  • Able to interpret various forms of data and instructions.
  • Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to address standard issues effectively.
  • Capability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and healthcare providers.

Work Schedule:

Days, Per Diem/Casual, 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.

Compensation:

Pay range is $44.76 to $53.70 per hour, with consideration for experience and qualifications.
