Job Summary

Lutheran Services Carolinas is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Service Professional to join our team. As a Direct Service Professional, you will be responsible for providing residential habilitation services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your primary focus will be on supporting residents in their daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise residents and provide guidance on daily living activities, such as meal preparation, personal care, and household chores.
  • Assist residents with medication administration, as needed.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to residents, promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure seamless care and support for residents.
  • Document resident progress and report any concerns or issues to the Program Coordinator.
Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or GED with one year experience in human services field; BA/BS with no experience.
  • Valid driver's license; minimum age of 21.
  • Ability to lift and carry minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach overhead.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in counseling, social work, or group home preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions). Time will be spent in the residential home supervising residents. Shifts may vary from night to day; some overnight stays on a rotating basis may be required. Local travel may also be required. Environment can be stressful and emotional depending on mood and behavior of residents.
