Job Title: Horizontal Directional Drill Crew Member

We are seeking a skilled Horizontal Directional Drill Crew Member to join our team at Utility Service Contractors, Inc.

Job Summary:

The Horizontal Directional Drill Crew Member will be responsible for operating Horizontal Directional Drills, assisting in potholing and remediation, and driving equipment to job sites. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling and a strong knowledge of underground utilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drills to drill out predetermined paths to exit pits
  • Assist in potholing and remediation to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations
  • Drive equipment to job sites and set up drill equipment, water tanks, and grounding the machine
  • Communicate with locators/leads via radio to confirm drill head location and oversee laborers and/or crew members' work
  • Conduct post-job quality checks and clean, check fluid levels, and conduct visual inspections of vehicles/equipment
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip inspections, and required paperwork, as well as needed maintenance, including winterizing equipment
  • Communicate with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork, including Dailies labor hours, F and D tickets, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.
Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated Horizontal Directional Drilling experience
  • Strong knowledge of underground utilities and familiarity with Ditch Witch equipment
  • Knowledge of underground pot holing is a plus, as well as working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications)
  • Understanding of client and company work specifications and ability to comply with the "Operator's Manual" for equipment
  • Self-motivated, safety, quality, and production-minded, with ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A, with airbrake endorsement and tanker endorsement)
  • Willing to travel
