Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live a Life Without Limits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage residents in activities of choice, reinforcing Individualized Support Plan (ISP) goals.
  • Provide transportation and supervision for residents as per individual program requirements.
  • Ensure accurate recording of daily activities, problems, and needs of residents in the daily log.
  • Meet residents' personal hygiene and grooming needs.
  • Use proper body mechanics to lift, move, and position residents, and provide prescribed exercises and physical care.
  • Inspect the home at the beginning of the shift to ensure it meets safety requirements, checking for clutter and hazardous objects. Correct deficiencies or submit a written report to the supervisor outlining deficiencies by the end of the shift.
  • Conduct evacuation drills, both fire and severe weather, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Follow the program plan for addressing potential emergencies and disasters, such as medical, fire, severe weather, and missing persons.
  • Clean and sanitize all appliances, utensils, and work surfaces in accordance with Personal Care Home Rules and Regulations guidelines.
  • Cook and prepare meals.
  • Report any issues with equipment used by residents to the supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchen, and telephones daily in accordance with Personal Care Home guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations applying to Personal Care Home and UCP Residential Services during assigned hours.
  • Comply with policies and procedures to maintain confidentiality requirements.
  • Support and protect the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of clients and families as defined by the agency.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50lb with or without reasonable accommodations.
