Job Overview

The Information Systems Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the technological infrastructure of the healthcare facility. This position is responsible for assisting with the setup and troubleshooting of hardware, including computers, printers, servers, and other peripheral devices. The technician also provides essential support for the CPSI system utilized by medical staff and physicians, ensuring they are well-trained in both hardware and software applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster an environment that aligns with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Hillsboro Area Hospital Inc.
  • Conduct daily checks on server functionality.
  • Review backup logs and address any errors immediately.
  • Manage backup tape procedures in accordance with established policies.
  • Install and support various personal computing devices and software applications.
  • Provide user assistance and support to all staff members.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
  • Stay informed about hospital policies and departmental procedures.
  • Acquire software and train staff on its effective use.
  • Deliver timely support and problem resolution for system users.
  • Operate and maintain designated data processing equipment.
  • Serve as a liaison with software and hardware vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to ensure user needs are met.
  • Install and configure network and PC equipment to meet specifications for security and usability.
  • Develop and maintain local networks to optimize performance and security.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues for system users promptly.
  • Keep detailed records of repairs and maintenance schedules.
  • Support both local and remote staff in virtual desktop environments.
  • Ensure seamless integration of desktop computers with various systems.
  • Schedule and execute maintenance and upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Collaborate with external technical professionals for equipment and software maintenance.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of information systems through diligent monitoring.
  • Perform network administration tasks as required, including user account management.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in computer support, particularly in a healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in general office duties, including keyboarding and calculator skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of personal computer and mainframe hardware and software.
  • Preferred educational background includes a B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of climbing, balancing, stooping, and kneeling as necessary.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of objects up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled office setting.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other health risks.
  • Noise levels in the work environment range from quiet to moderate.
