Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the City of Somerville. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy motor equipment in a safe and efficient manner to perform various tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy motor equipment, such as bulldozers, cranes, and excavators, to perform tasks such as excavation, demolition, and construction.
- Load and unload trucks, and transport materials and equipment as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including greasing, oiling, and cleaning.
- Assist in the operation of heavy equipment, such as operating cranes and hoists.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Ability to operate heavy motor equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
The Heavy Equipment Operator will work in a variety of environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces. The operator will be exposed to noise, vibrations, and other hazards associated with heavy equipment operation.
Physical DemandsThe Heavy Equipment Operator will be required to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods of time. The operator will also be required to use hand and power tools, and to navigate rough terrain.
