Sales Territory Representative

Job Overview
As a Sales Territory Representative, you play a pivotal role in the success of Columbia Distributing. Each representative is tasked with driving and securing beverage sales within their designated market. This involves identifying new business opportunities and addressing the needs of existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategically manage inventory costs in line with company guidelines.
- Maintain respectful communication with internal departments, suppliers, and clients.
- Oversee product rotation and merchandising efforts.
- Complete all necessary training to enhance performance and effectiveness.
- Stay informed about industry trends, including beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and market dynamics.
- Create and implement programs tailored to the customer base.
- Submit all required reports, including preplans, trackers, market surveys, and expense documentation by the specified deadlines.
Sales Execution
- Effectively promote the Columbia Distributing portfolio across all assigned accounts.
- Ensure visibility in accounts meets or exceeds competitive standards.
- Drive the growth of core brand distribution throughout the year.
- Uphold established retail standards, including stock levels, inventory rotation, pricing, and promotional displays.
Competencies Required
- General knowledge of industry products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Capability to build robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment
This position primarily operates within accounts, with occasional outdoor responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 165 lbs.
- Proficient use of industry tools such as hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Position Type
This is a full-time role with varying hours, including potential weekend work. Local travel is required.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Sales Fundamental training (including Certified Sales Professional certification) is required upon hiring; Cicerone level one certification is expected within one year of employment.
- A minimum of two years of prior sales experience in the beverage sector is essential.
- A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is advantageous.
- Previous experience in grocery, on-premise, or retail environments is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation packages are tailored to each candidate's unique qualifications, including skills, experience, certifications, and location. Eligible employees and their families can access medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Enrollment in the company's 401k plan is available, along with 80 hours of vacation annually and 7-8 paid holidays throughout the year. Additional incentives may be available.
