We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Body in White (BIW) Assembly. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Automotive Closures, Jigs and Fixtures, as well as proficiency in PG/UCF Gauges and CMM/Free Scan Data. Experience with Automotive Class A and Aluminum components is highly desirable.

Role Summary:

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for BIW, you will play a crucial role in transforming our operational processes and systems. Your expertise will be vital in developing and executing strategies that set new benchmarks for precision and efficiency. With your extensive background in closures and your ability to lead cross-functional teams, you will drive our continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Tool & Die enhancements, ensuring effective integration of tooling into production operations for the BIW Assembly Process.
  • Utilize your expertise in GD&T, Panel Gauge Measurement, and CMM to make critical adjustments necessary for manufacturing.
  • Promote lean manufacturing principles, guiding the team towards optimal efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration to seamlessly implement advanced manufacturing strategies.
  • Present updates and strategic direction of stamping projects to executive leadership, highlighting key developments and breakthroughs.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive strategies to enhance stamping processes, incorporating innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction, implementing creative solutions to boost productivity and product quality.
  • Create detailed project plans with defined objectives, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful execution.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and advancements, integrating modern practices and technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Possess working knowledge of Progressive Dies, Transfer Dies, Large Press Lines, and other related equipment.
  • Understand best practices for Equipment Buy-Off both domestically and internationally, ensuring successful integration into production operations.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced Tool Makers and BIW Assembly Engineers.
  • Manage customer expectations regarding tooling performance and quality.
  • Deliver executive-level presentations, addressing KPIs, Die Qualification Schedules, and maintenance requirements.
  • Comprehend the nuances of New Product Launch within the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Proven experience in managing capital projects and leading cross-functional teams is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Tooling Management within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with best practices for New Product Launch, Quality Improvements, and Corrective Action Measures.
  • Ability to effectively lead a cross-functional team, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
