Job Title: Director of Development

The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is seeking a skilled Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and drive the growth of our foundation.

Job Summary

The Director of Development will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and community leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development program to meet the goals of the Board of Directors, CEO, and CFO.
  • Oversee and maintain donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors, cultivating and soliciting gifts to support the foundation's mission.
  • Direct annual fund program, including mailings and fundraising drives, to engage and retain donors.
  • Grow a planned giving program, focusing on deferred gifts, such as bequests, to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  • Research and apply for grants and public funding to support the foundation's programs and services.
  • Communicate effectively with donors, stakeholders, and community leaders to steward good donor relations and build a strong network of supporters.
  • Oversee grant-seeking program, including identifying applicable grants, research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives to achieve strategic goals.
  • Develop a recognition program for donors to acknowledge and appreciate their contributions.
  • Evaluate changing trends in philanthropy and tax regulations to develop new programs and strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated history of cultivating planned giving and grant writing.
  • Experience in creating annual events and receptions that raise funds and cultivate future donors.
  • Ability to create a budget and achieve annual goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles of effective communication, social media, mass media, advertising, policies, education, and community relations.
