Position Overview


Become an integral part of our interdisciplinary therapy team at Fairview Health Services. We are currently seeking a dedicated pediatric speech language pathologist to deliver specialized speech therapy services for children.

This role offers a supportive team environment, with opportunities for mentorship, professional growth, and program development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and/or experience in providing feeding therapy services.


Employment Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE), authorized for 80 hours per pay period

Work Schedule: Choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts.

Fairview Health Services Rehabilitation provides a wide array of services across multiple facilities, including ten acute-care hospitals, three post-acute settings, and 70 outpatient therapy clinics for both adults and children.

Our team encompasses Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, allowing our therapists to collaborate with colleagues across various medical environments and offer numerous specialized programs.


As a part of an academic health system with residency and fellowship programs, we foster a collaborative culture focused on learning and evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Our continuing education program offers over 40 courses annually at no cost to employees, along with support for numerous external continuing education opportunities each year.


As a member of the Fairview Health Services rehabilitation team, you will have access to formal mentorship, clinical specialization, and further recognition and compensation through our clinical specialist program.

As a leader in rehabilitative care with nationally recognized programs, our therapists play a crucial role in assisting patients in achieving their goals and enhancing their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist collaborates with patients and their families to conduct evaluations and re-evaluations, which include:
  • Collecting relevant data
  • Performing comprehensive assessments
  • Establishing treatment diagnoses
  • Creating individualized care plans in partnership with patients and families
  • Analyzing data to identify needs and potential risks
  • Determining recovery prognosis
  • Setting personalized goals with patients and/or caregivers
  • Customizing care plans to account for developmental levels and cultural differences
  • Implementing and adjusting care plans based on ongoing assessments and patient responses
  • Coordinating care and effectively communicating with the interdisciplinary team regarding all aspects of patient care
  • Developing appropriate discharge plans
  • Providing skilled interventions in partnership with patients and families
  • Documenting care accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to departmental standards

Qualifications

Required:
  • Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a valid Speech Language Pathology license in Minnesota, unless in Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Active Minnesota Basic Life Support certification
Preferred:
  • Training and experience in Feeding Therapy
  • Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year
  • At least one year of relevant experience
