Position Overview


Become an integral part of our dynamic interdisciplinary therapy team at Fairview Health Services. We are currently in search of a dedicated pediatric speech language pathologist to deliver specialized speech therapy services for children.

You will be welcomed into a nurturing team atmosphere that encourages mentorship, professional development, and innovative program initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a keen interest and/or experience in providing feeding therapy services.


Employment Details:
Full-time equivalent of 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.

Work Schedule:
Choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts.

Fairview Health Services Rehabilitation provides a wide array of services to patients across various settings, including acute-care hospitals, post-acute facilities, and numerous outpatient therapy clinics for both adults and children.

Our team comprises experts in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, collaborating across medical disciplines to deliver specialized programs.

As a leader in rehabilitative care with nationally recognized programs, our therapists play a vital role in assisting patients in achieving their goals and enhancing their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist collaborates with patients and their families throughout the evaluation and re-evaluation process:

1. Collects relevant data
2. Conducts thorough examinations
3. Establishes treatment diagnoses
4. Develops personalized care plans in partnership with patients and families
5. Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks
6. Determines recovery prognosis
7. Sets individualized goals with patients and/or caregivers
8. Tailors care plans considering developmental stages and cultural differences
9. Implements and adjusts care plans based on ongoing assessments and patient responses
10. Coordinates care and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient management
11. Develops appropriate discharge plans
12. Partners with patients and families to deliver skilled interventions
13. Implements care plans
14. Modifies treatment plans to reflect changes in patient status and responses
15. Assesses learning needs of patients and/or caregivers and provides suitable education

Documentation and Billing

1. Utilizes appropriate medical terminology
2. Adheres to professional practice standards
3. Completes documentation promptly in accordance with departmental standards
4. Complies with departmental billing protocols

Professional Expectations

1. Prioritizes tasks and patient care for efficient time management
2. Understands and adheres to professional licensure and certification requirements
3. Directs team members and/or supervises students as designated
4. Pursues personal and professional growth to enhance clinical best practices
5. Meets or exceeds departmental productivity standards

Adaptability

1. Travels to and provides care in various settings as assigned
2. Demonstrates flexibility to meet staffing and patient needs

5. Completes assigned duties before transitioning to subsequent settings and/or establishes handoff for continuity of care
6. Adapts to the demands of multiple processes and supervisors
7. Requires reliable transportation to fulfill business needs

Qualifications

Required:
1. Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a Speech Language Pathology license in the state of Minnesota, unless in Clinical Fellowship Year
2. Active Minnesota Basic Life Support certification

Preferred:
1. Training and experience in Feeding Therapy
2. Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year
3. At least 1 year of relevant experience
