We are seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify the identification of employees and visitors by badge inspection and/or using security personnel databases.
  • Patrol and inspect interior facilities to ensure proper security protocols are being followed.
  • Operate APL vehicles to patrol outside areas and ensure proper security procedures are being followed.
  • Write security-related reports and complete incident forms.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus one year of security-related work experience.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to speak and write English to the level required to perform job tasks.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including the skills to use a security database and email.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and a Secret level clearance.
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory results from a pre-employment physical exam.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accredited training in defense tactics, CPR, standard first aid, and basic criminal investigation.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
