Description
The Biology Department at Georgetown University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty role at the Assistant Professor level. This position is set to commence in the upcoming academic year.

We are in search of a distinguished microbiologist who will spearhead a vibrant, externally-funded research initiative while also engaging in the education and mentorship of both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral researchers.
We particularly welcome candidates with innovative ideas and disciplinary expertise, who are eager to explore multidisciplinary collaborations addressing both foundational and applied scientific challenges.
Ideal candidates will have research interests that align with our current strengths, particularly in areas such as prokaryotic biology, microbial cellular processes, environmental microbiology, extremophiles, or host-microbe interactions. However, we remain open to a broad spectrum of research topics and methodologies.
The successful candidate will become part of a supportive and dynamic research community, both within our department and in collaboration with colleagues across various natural and physical science disciplines, as well as the Georgetown University Medical Center.

QualificationsA Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field is required prior to the start date.
Applicants should have completed a minimum of two years in a postdoctoral role, and prior teaching or mentoring experience is advantageous.
