Position Overview
The Lead Audiovisual Specialist plays a crucial role within the Audiovisual and Instructional Technology teams at Georgetown University.
This position is responsible for the technical management and upkeep of all audiovisual systems utilized by the academic departments, including classrooms, event venues, and conference facilities. The role also encompasses oversight of additional supported spaces during evening hours.
In addition, the specialist will lead the exploration, assessment, procurement, inventory management, installation, and integration of audiovisual equipment and services across supported facilities.
With a wealth of expertise in managing both minor and major audiovisual projects, the specialist will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of various audiovisual systems, including lecture capture software, digital and analog interfaces, video conferencing tools, and television production apparatus.
Collaboration and Communication
Reporting directly to the Director of Audio Visual Event Services, the Lead Audiovisual Specialist will interact with senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.
Exceptional communication skills are essential for engaging with distinguished guests, high-level university officials, alumni, and media representatives, alongside regular interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 7 years of audiovisual experience, preferably in educational institutions, conference centers, or hospitality environments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, often under pressure, to complete complex setups and operations
- Professional familiarity with AV technologies, including digital switchers, audiovisual systems, video capture software, and video conferencing platforms
- General proficiency with both Mac and PC systems
- Understanding of networked audiovisual systems
- Proficiency in Google Workspace tools, including Gmail, Docs, and Drive
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight
- Expertise in room control systems, such as Crestron and Extron
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests
- Willingness to accept flexible hours and overtime as needed
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds and work from heights
- Frequent movement of items weighing up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods
- Occasional requirement to move items weighing up to 100 pounds
This position is designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the university.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $47,000 to $87,558.13, determined by various factors including individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications.
