The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Cyber Analyst with a robust background in identifying, monitoring, and evaluating international cyber threats to Defense, Service, and Interagency information systems, networks, and critical infrastructure. This role involves conducting comprehensive technical and all-source analyses to characterize foreign cyber actors and threats, thereby providing effective warnings and protective measures for U.S. national security.

The Cyber Analyst plays a vital role in producing Defense Intelligence Enterprise deliverables, which include foundational assessments, warning reports, technical briefings, and various analytic documents. Collaboration with the Intelligence Community, Defense Department, national laboratories, and academic institutions is essential to address cyber-related threat challenges.

Key responsibilities include guiding junior staff, reviewing colleagues' work, contributing to multi-functional analytic teams, and staying updated on relevant cyber technologies, trends, and threats. The position requires the ability to articulate official government analytic positions during engagements with clients and represent Defense Intelligence Enterprise analytic units as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, cybersecurity, political science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in intelligence analysis is required.
  • Familiarity with DoD, Service, and other governmental computer network architectures, systems, and programs.
  • Practical knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and processes.
  • Experience in risk assessment to identify potential impacts and vulnerabilities related to foreign and malign cyber threat actors.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and datasets to support continuous cybersecurity monitoring activities.
  • Working knowledge of established Intelligence Community directives, standards, and tradecraft documents.
  • Ability to convey complex analyses in a manner comprehensible to diverse military audiences and senior government representatives.
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility and willingness to undergo a polygraph examination.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or specialized coursework in computer science, Management Information Systems, cybersecurity, political science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting Information Operations Computer Network Defense/Exploitation assessments.
  • DoD 8570/8140 cybersecurity certification, including CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ Certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification, and/or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Certification.
  • Understanding of foreign military and adversary C4I and Computer Network Attack capabilities and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring, threat hunting, packet analysis, malware analysis, signature development, and/or shell scripting.
