The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) presents an exceptional opportunity for a Cyber Analyst skilled in recognizing, observing, and evaluating international cyber threats to Defense, Service, and Interagency information systems, networks, and critical infrastructure. This role routinely performs technical and comprehensive analyses that define foreign cyber actors and threats to effectively alert and safeguard U.S. national security components.

The Cyber Analyst plays a crucial role in the Defense Intelligence Enterprise deliverables, which include foundational assessments, warning reports, technical briefings, and various analytic documents. This position collaborates with the Intelligence Community, Defense Department, national laboratories, and academic institutions to tackle cyber-related threat challenges.

In addition, the Cyber Analyst provides mentorship to junior staff, reviews colleagues' work, contributes authoritatively to multi-disciplinary analytic teams, and stays updated on relevant cyber technologies, trends, and threats. The role requires the ability to articulate official government analytic positions during client interactions and represent Defense Intelligence Enterprise analytic units as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, cybersecurity, political science, International Relations, or a related discipline.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in intelligence analysis is required.
  • Familiarity with DoD, Service, and other governmental computer network architectures, systems, and programs.
  • Practical knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Experience in risk assessment to identify potential impacts and vulnerabilities associated with foreign and malign cyber threat actors.
  • Experience in data analysis and datasets to facilitate continuous cybersecurity monitoring activities.
  • Working knowledge of established Intelligence Community directives, standards, and tradecraft documents.
  • Ability to convey complex analyses in a manner understandable to diverse military audiences and senior government officials.
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility and willingness to undergo a polygraph examination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or specialized coursework in computer science, Management Information Systems, cybersecurity, political science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting Information Operations Computer Network Defense/Exploitation assessments.
  • DoD 8570/8140 cybersecurity certification, including CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ Certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification, and/or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Certification.
  • Understanding of foreign military and adversary C4I and Computer Network Attack capabilities and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring, threat hunting, packet analysis, malware analysis, signature development, and/or shell scripting.
