Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse will deliver direct patient care under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse within a clinical environment.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to engage in patient assessments and apply critical thinking skills in response to various clinical situations, including effective verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Minimum Requirements
  • Active LPN license in the state of North Carolina.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Current BLS or ACLS certification.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience in Nephrology.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, OIG exclusion, and drug screenings.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and various data management systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare concepts and principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to organize resources and manage repetitive tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to multitask effectively.
  • Understanding of confidentiality ethics and ability to maintain sensitive information.
  • Familiarity with medical ethics applicable to medical assistants.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversee Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather essential information to assess patient needs prior to examinations, including:
    • Measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
    • Recording patient weight in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Reviewing patient allergies and medications.
  • Conduct laboratory tasks within the scope of practice, including:
    • Performing fingerstick hemoglobin checks after receiving appropriate training and certification.
    • Documenting results in the EMR.
  • Participate in Chronic Care Management initiatives.
  • Provide patient instructions as directed by physicians and document medical information in the EMR.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, documenting patient interactions and changes in care as directed by medical providers.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to hear, see, and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in fine motor skills for tasks such as data entry.
  • Capability to remain stationary or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or move up to twenty-five pounds using proper ergonomic techniques.
Work Environment

This role is performed in a standard office environment with moderate noise levels. Regular duties require standing, talking, and listening.
