Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our Purchasing / Supply Chain team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the internal purchasing function, evaluating suppliers, and negotiating prices to ensure optimum value for the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the internal purchasing function, including evaluating suppliers, market trends, and comparative data to ensure optimum value for the company.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, required quality, and specification conformance.
  • Optimize the current supply base to ensure continuous improvement and drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support company employees in their purchasing projects and goals, and participate in cross-functional project management.
  • Work with all company employees to get the best value for machinery, equipment, plant consumables, tooling, and any other purchased goods.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
  • Ideally 3-5+ Years Experience, Manufacturing Experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory control, bills of material, etc.
  • Good Communication (written, spoken, email, phone) skills and customer service are important in this position.
  • Capable of handling multi-tasking and frequent changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
  • Experience with ERP system such as AS400/BPCS or SAP.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of analyzing quotations and negotiating prices.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate with supervision and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Able to manage Purchasing Department staff.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles related to sales/purchase contract and business customs.
