Position Summary

SOL Engineering is in search of a skilled Construction Inspector to enhance our dynamic team. This role involves collaborating with engineers and technicians to oversee the design and management of multiple civil engineering projects concurrently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections on the construction of various structures, including bridges, buildings, dams, and highways, ensuring adherence to established plans and specifications.
  • Measure distances to confirm the accuracy of structural dimensions and layouts.
  • Utilize surveyor's level and transit to verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
  • Monitor ongoing work to ensure compliance with procedures and material specifications.
  • Assess the quality of completed installations for conformity to standards and authorize acceptance.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications for contractors, addressing any deviations from prescribed construction methods to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities, comparing them with progress reports.
  • Calculate monthly work completion estimates and authorize contractor payments.
  • Create sketches of construction installations that differ from blueprints and document such changes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; an Associate's degree in engineering technology or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Capability to lift and transport up to 70 lbs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Flexibility in work hours based on project needs.
  • Ability to work in both outdoor and indoor environments.
