Position: Forklift Operator (TWIC)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shifts: Day and Night Shifts Available; 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including weekends as necessary.
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to enhance our stevedoring operations by effectively managing cargo within the terminal. The successful candidate will be tasked with operating forklifts to transport, stack, and arrange large cargo items with precision and safety. This position is crucial for the efficient loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring we meet productivity goals and operational timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Operate forklifts to efficiently move goods and materials throughout the facility.
- Load and unload cargo from various transport vehicles, including trucks and ships.
- Organize and stack large cargo blocks within the storage area to optimize space utilization.
- Verify product loads for accuracy and safely transport them within the logistics environment.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while operating forklifts.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, including battery recharging and lubrication of machinery.
- Notify supervisors of any significant repairs or malfunctions, particularly with hydraulic systems and steering components.
- Follow operational guidelines for handling goods as directed by management.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Possession of a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience as a forklift operator with a valid operating license.
- Familiarity with various material-handling equipment is advantageous.
- Competence in using both automated and semi-automated machinery.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations in a stevedoring or maritime environment.
- Physical capability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Availability to work shifts, including nights and weekends as required.
- This position involves operating a forklift primarily in outdoor settings and large warehouse areas.
- Exposure to mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, and varying environmental conditions such as dust and temperature fluctuations is expected.
- The role requires physical stamina to manage heavy loads, repetitive tasks, and prolonged periods of sitting.
