Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various types of marine vessels, including tug boats, flat boats, crew boats, and mud boats.
  • Ensure the safe handling and operation of boats, adhering to all boating terminology and safety protocols.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, including checking fluid levels, inspecting for leaks, and ensuring safety gear is onboard.
  • Assist in project support by maneuvering boats and barges around the project site.
  • Safely transport staff, equipment, and materials while maintaining a clean and well-maintained vessel.
  • Provide support during rescue operations and prevent unsafe practices on the water.
  • Utilize knowledge of local environmental conditions to operate vessels safely.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operating marine vessels, particularly in maneuvering barges with tug boats.
  • Completion of an LDWF-approved boater education course (certificate required).
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid TWIC card.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or relevant vocational training.
  • Steel toe work boots are required.
