Bridge Engineering Technician III

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Engineering Technician III to join our Bridge Maintenance team at the NC Department of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising junior engineering technicians, performing independent inspections, and creating contract documents.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise junior engineering technicians by reviewing daily inspection reports and scheduling project staff.
- Perform independent inspections of bridge maintenance contract replacement and field maintenance projects to ensure compliance with contract provisions and standard specifications.
- Create and assemble contract documents, including serving as a rodperson/instrument person.
- Inspect structure and roadway operations, including pile driving, steel/concrete placement, sub grade preparation, asphalt paving, and traffic activity.
- Perform routine math computations and track and report contract progress.
- Process contractor and material invoices and enter data in HiCams.
- Knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories used in highway construction and math functions.
- Experience working on complex inspections for roadway, structure, and resurfacing projects to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, and NCDOT standards and specifications.
- Basic computer skills and management experience in the supervision, management, and training of employees.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant technician experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
