Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Engineer and Inspection Intern to join our team at Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE). As a key member of our team, you will assist in various aspects of project management, quality assurance, and field inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with field inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and inspectors to conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on construction activities.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of construction progress, material deliveries, and site conditions.
  • Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of construction requirements.
  • Monitor and report on construction activities, identifying any deviations or issues that require attention.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports, inspection reports, and project documentation.
  • Participate in meetings with project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols and ensure adherence to established safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Strong interest in construction engineering and inspection.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, materials, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software and tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate results.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and work conditions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Academic Junior or Senior preferred.
  • Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.
Career Development

ICE interns are paired with more experienced staff members to provide guidance and support throughout the internship process. The primary goal of the internship is to gain as much experience as possible and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a construction engineering and inspection role.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The role involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
