Job Title: Director of Health Care Policy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Health Care Policy to join our team at the American Action Forum. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC.

About the Role

The Director of Health Care Policy will be responsible for leading our health policy portfolio, researching and communicating effectively about a wide range of health policy issues. This includes a firm grasp of key policy issues facing major federal health programs, health insurance, drug pricing, public health, medical innovations, and relevant FDA policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships in the health care policy field to advance our mission of publishing relevant research for policymakers and affiliated audiences.
  • Lead a small team of analysts and manage their work to produce high-quality research and analysis.
  • Use data to critique and develop policy proposals, and communicate complex policy issues to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date on legislative and regulatory priorities, and assess their impact on health care policy.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience working in health care policy on Capitol Hill, a relevant agency, think tank, or commensurate experience.
  • A graduate degree in healthcare policy, public policy, or communications, or commensurate experience.
  • Strong writing, research, and data analysis skills, with the ability to communicate complex policy issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience working with staffers and elected officials at the state and federal level.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities with little notice.
