Job Summary:

Miami University's Communications and Marketing department is seeking a Director of Communications and Marketing to support the Farmer School of Business. The successful candidate will develop integrated, comprehensive, and omni-channel marketing communications plans to help the FSB reach its enrollment goals and build its reputation regionally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and implement integrated, comprehensive communication and marketing strategies for student recruitment and reputation and brand building for the Farmer School of Business.
  • Develop marketing and communications plans designed to drive success with established enrollment and brand goals.
  • Collaborate with leaders in UCM, FSB, and Enrollment Management and Student Success to create and strategically execute a plan to raise the Farmer School of Business's public profile, visibility, and brand recognition at the regional and national level.
  • Manage vendors and freelancers that support marketing and communications for FSB.
  • Work with UCM and FSB's PR and marketing firm to stimulate media interest in FSB through press releases, media request responses, and targeted media contacts.
  • Develop strategies for digital marketing.
  • Oversee the division's web presence and collaborate with web team members to plan and implement university strategies and departmental requests.

Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree with an emphasis in business, communications, marketing, journalism, or a relevant field.
  • At least five years of professional communications, marketing, journalism, or relevant experience.
  • At least two years supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA/MS/MBA degree in business, communications, marketing, journalism, or a relevant field.
  • At least five years of managerial/director experience in public relations, marketing, or communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop powerful messages for a wide range of audiences on diverse topics.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Conceptual graphic design skills.
  • Experience developing marketing or communications campaigns.
  • Experience working in highly collaborative environments requiring interpersonal communication competence, initiative, active listening, and emotional intelligence.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated understanding of the higher education environment.
  • Experience with multicultural marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the value of storytelling.
  • Experience in a highly collaborative environment working with colleagues and peers to achieve enrollment, revenue generation, fundraising, or similar goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with relational databases such as constituent relationship management (CRM) system (Slate).
