Transportation Specialist

Job Summary:
The Town of Oxford is seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Citizen Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe and timely transportation to senior citizens in various locations throughout the Town of Oxford and other communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a multi-passenger van in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Attend occasional MASSDOT trainings provided by WRTA.
- Assist passengers boarding and departing the bus.
- Provide assistance to passengers with special needs, such as using a wheelchair.
- Maintain cleanliness of the passenger vehicle and report any operational deficiencies to the Senior Center Director.
Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma with two to three years of passenger driving experience preferred.
- Valid Class D Driver's License and good driving record.
- Knowledge of operation of van lift.
- Ability to pass random drug and alcohol tests.
Work Environment:
Working conditions involve occasional exposure to intermittent machine or related noise or a combination of unpleasant elements such as odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt or grease when transporting elderly passengers.
Work may involve general cleaning, occasional work at heights or in confined or cramped quarters, or work around machinery and its moving parts.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to push up to 300 pounds. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing.
There may also be some occasional lifting of objects, including but not limited to assisting frail elderly to enter and exit from the passenger van.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time non-benefit eligible position.
