Overview

The Senior Administrator of Newborn Screening (NBS), under the guidance of the Deputy Managing Director of Clinical Delivery Services and Workforce Development, collaborates with NBS leadership to provide strategic and operational oversight for designated NBS product lines. This role encompasses the management of sales, business development, consulting, product innovation, and service delivery.

In this capacity, the Senior Administrator will tackle existing business challenges while nurturing an environment that promotes creativity and growth. They will spearhead program development, strategic planning, and service delivery initiatives, leveraging the expertise within ForHealth Consulting to drive business expansion.

The Senior Administrator will ensure alignment of NBS business and operational priorities with ForHealth's strategic objectives, optimizing the allocation of resources, talent, and operational expenditures. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of local, state, federal, and international NBS contracts and grants, with a strong emphasis on quality service delivery and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic and Financial Leadership: Direct the growth of NBS services, consulting, and technical assistance across various departments. Formulate and implement business financial plans that support ForHealth's strategic goals, emphasizing out-of-state growth and profitability. Ensure compliance with operational and fiscal regulations, including budget formulation and reporting.
  • Business Development and Client Relations: Identify and pursue new business opportunities across federal, state, international markets, and the private sector. Strengthen relationships with key clients and collaborate with them to address their needs while developing strategies for service enhancement and revenue growth.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight: Supervise the annual budget, manage monthly financial reports, forecasts, and corrective measures. Maintain the financial integrity of NBS business lines through prudent fiscal management. Analyze and project growth opportunities within the NBS market segment to enhance profitability.
  • Operational Efficiency and Process Enhancement: Oversee labor, operating, and capital expense budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation. Evaluate and refine administrative systems to boost efficiency. Initiate process improvement activities to streamline operations and implement inventory management systems.
  • Staff and Technology Oversight: Develop and execute staffing strategies for program personnel. Lead the integration of new laboratory technologies and manage vendor contracts. Supervise purchasing and supply management to ensure cost-effective procurement and inventory control.
  • Communication and Compliance: Maintain regular communication with executive and operational leadership regarding NBS business lines, operations, budgets, and activities. Support the NBS Executive Director with IT systems and tools for laboratory process enhancement and future growth. Ensure adherence to University, State, and funding agency regulations.
  • Human Resources and Professional Development: Oversee human resources functions, including staffing, recruitment, counseling, compensation, and benefits. Cultivate a positive workplace culture and promote employee retention. Support the professional development of staff.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Management, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a leader in academic or healthcare operations, including fiscal management responsibilities.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing operations within a healthcare or clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, including identifying growth opportunities, managing sales, and expanding service lines.
  • Strong expertise in financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution, with a history of aligning business operations with organizational goals.
  • Experience in managing and directing multiple contracts or grants at local, state, federal, and international levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in laboratory or scientific operations.
  • Significant experience working with state governments and public agency leaders in senior-level roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare business sector, including state and federal agencies (Medicaid, Medicare).
  • Experience and expertise in managing organization-wide projects and initiatives.
