Overview
The Senior Administrator of Newborn Screening (NBS), operating under the direction of the Deputy Managing Director of Clinical Delivery Services and Workforce Development, collaborates closely with NBS leadership to provide both strategic and operational oversight for designated NBS product lines. This role encompasses the management of sales, business development, consulting, product innovation, and service execution.
In this capacity, the Senior Administrator will tackle existing business challenges while cultivating an environment that promotes creativity and growth. They will spearhead program development, strategic planning, and service delivery initiatives, leveraging the expertise within ForHealth Consulting to facilitate business expansion.
The Senior Administrator will ensure alignment of NBS business and operational objectives with ForHealth's strategic vision, optimizing the allocation of resources, talent, and operational expenditures. This position involves managing a diverse portfolio of local, state, federal, and international NBS contracts and grants, with a strong emphasis on quality service delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Financial Leadership: Drive the growth of NBS services, consulting, and technical assistance across various sectors. Formulate and lead financial strategies to support ForHealth's objectives, emphasizing out-of-state expansion and profitability. Ensure compliance with operational and fiscal regulations, including budget formulation and reporting.
- Business Development and Client Relations: Identify and pursue new business avenues in federal, state, international markets, and the private sector. Strengthen and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and devise strategies for service enhancement and revenue growth.
- Budget and Financial Oversight: Supervise the annual budget, manage monthly financial reports, forecasts, and corrective measures. Safeguard the financial integrity of NBS business lines through prudent fiscal management. Evaluate and project growth opportunities within the NBS market segment to enhance profitability.
- Operational Efficiency and Process Enhancement: Oversee labor, operating, and capital expense budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocation. Assess and refine administrative systems for improved efficiency. Initiate process improvement activities to streamline operations and implement effective inventory control systems.
- Staff and Technology Management: Develop and implement staffing strategies for program personnel. Lead the integration of new laboratory technologies and manage vendor agreements. Supervise procurement and supply management to ensure cost-effective practices.
- Communication and Compliance: Maintain regular communication with executive and operational leadership regarding NBS business lines, operations, budgets, and activities. Assist the NBS Executive Director with IT systems and tools for laboratory process enhancement and future growth. Comply with University, State, and funding agency regulations.
- Human Resources and Professional Development: Oversee human resources functions, including staffing, recruitment, counseling, compensation, and benefits. Promote a positive workplace culture and support employee retention. Encourage professional development among staff.
Additional Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Management, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 to 7 years of experience as a leader in academic or healthcare operations, including fiscal management responsibilities.
- Proven track record in leading and managing operations within a healthcare or clinical environment.
- Demonstrated success in business development, including identifying growth opportunities, managing sales, and expanding service offerings.
- Strong expertise in financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution, with a history of aligning business operations with organizational goals.
- Experience in managing and directing multiple contracts or grants at local, state, federal, and international levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in laboratory or scientific operations.
- Significant experience collaborating with state governments and public agency leaders in senior-level roles.
- In-depth knowledge of the healthcare business sector, including state and federal agencies (Medicaid, Medicare).
- Experience and expertise in managing organization-wide projects and initiatives.
