  • Share research outcomes at departmental meetings and other relevant forums.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and ensure timely ordering as necessary.
  • Oversee service contracts for laboratory equipment and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and label various solutions, buffers, and media.
  • Enforce safety regulations and infection control standards diligently.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures in compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Provide training on compliance protocols related to animal care and use, environmental health, and radiation safety.
  • Adhere to all applicable state, federal, university, and sponsor policies.
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, including personnel management and project coordination.
  • Identify challenges, propose solutions, and implement effective strategies.
  • Develop and refine experimental protocols with the approval of the Principal Investigator.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Conduct experiments and duties with a high degree of independence.
  • Mentor and train laboratory personnel on best practices and techniques.
  • Oversee laboratory budget and spending in alignment with guidelines provided.
  • Assist in the operational aspects of grant and contract proposals.
  • Negotiate with vendors to optimize resource allocation.
  • Contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Direct the activities of research support staff effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological or Natural Science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience, or a related Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex visual data objectively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Supervision:

Reports to the Principal Investigator or their designee, supervising aides, technicians, and associates.

Work Environment:

Work is conducted in a wet chemistry laboratory, with potential exposure to biohazards, radionuclides, toxins, animals, and human specimens.
