Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cell Optimization Specialist to join our team at Tesla. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for optimizing lithium-ion battery performance and lifetime in new and existing cells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute coin cell performance testing, coordinate and monitor full-cell testing, perform cell teardowns, document testing status and communicate timelines and results
  • Interpret results and propose testing to quantify degradation modes of various battery chemistries
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across Tesla to characterize battery materials, determine degradation mechanisms, and optimize cell performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent experience
  • Drive to execute testing and passion for optimization
  • Familiarity with degradation mechanisms of batteries and battery materials
  • Familiarity with chemical, electrochemical, and lifetime testing techniques for battery materials
  • Ability to learn new concepts and methods, propose design of experiments, and execute independently
  • Some coding experience preferred (i.e. MATLAB, Python, and/or similar data analysis tool)

Expected Compensation: $104,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
