About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Jupiter Medical Center. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze OR schedules to identify instrument needs and remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, and ED as necessary.
  • Operate all sterile processing equipment, including washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, incubators, Sterrad and Steris sterilizers, and heat sealers, following manufacturer instructions.
  • Decontaminate instruments and equipment according to hospital policy and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in the decontamination area.
  • Maintain good sterile core hygiene and re-stock per hospital policy, demonstrate competence in operating all equipment by attending in-services, and keep up to date on new equipment and products.
  • Create accurate and complete case carts using resource maps and pick tickets.
  • Replace inventory and put away return supplies to maintain sterility, maintain inventory and process instruments using instrument tracking software, and inspect and maintain instruments to ensure they are working properly.
  • Ensure sterility is established and maintained, record sterilization logs, and participate in inventory management.
  • Work assignments in the department should be organized daily, and ensure sterilization logs are filed and maintained properly.
  • Schedule sharpening of instruments, receive products, and place orders for new ones, maintain communication with the Operating Room Manager, and acknowledge the influence of beliefs and cultures on behavior and accept the strengths and limitations of others.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, self-control, and maturity in work and behavior, respond calmly to emergencies or stressful situations, and identify situations that require supervisor notification.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Sterile Processing program completed
  • Sterile Processing Certification is required
  • Min of 2 years of prior hospital experience
  • Continue training on the job to prepare for courses or certification
