About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at G Brock Magruder MD PA. As a key member of our eye care team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our clinicians in all aspects of ophthalmic care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by conducting preliminary exams, recording medical history, and verifying patient information.
  • Perform routine vision screening examinations, administer eye medications, and maintain ophthalmic instruments.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures, ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
  • Provide primary ophthalmic care to patients, including conducting complete ophthalmic histories and preliminary exams.
  • Verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm the purpose of each visit, accurately documenting all information in our electronic medical record system.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; minimum of one year of experience in ophthalmology preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive patient information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Physical Demands
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas through the spoken word, conveying detailed or essential verbal instructions to physicians, staff, and vendors.
  • Hearing: Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receiving detailed information through oral communication, and making discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers while working on reports on the computer.
  • Sedentary work: Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Visual Requirements: Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and reading.
  • Environmental Conditions: Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
