Purpose and Scope

As a key member of the Memphis Shelby County Schools team, the Site Administrator will oversee the daily operations and administration of assigned Project Graduation high school sites for at-risk students. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to District policies, regulations, and goals while providing a supportive environment for students to thrive.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Develop and implement effective educational programs for at-risk students, ensuring alignment with District standards and goals.
  2. Supervise and support site staff, including part-time teachers and administrative personnel, to ensure high-quality instruction and student support.
  3. Collaborate with site location support staff to address issues such as security and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  4. Conduct orientations for teachers, administrative staff, and parents to ensure a smooth transition and effective implementation of Project Graduation policies.
  5. Ensure program and policy adherence to organizational standards and legal regulations, maintaining accurate records and preparing required reports in a timely manner.
  6. Oversee facility maintenance and ensure that the site is functional and safe for students and staff, with access to necessary building facilities.
  7. Respond to questions, concerns, and complaints from teachers, parents/guardians, and students, maintaining effective relationships and resolving administrative, instructional, and behavioral problems.
  8. Assist staff with student-related issues, enforcing discipline as necessary while complying with due process and rights of students.
  9. Serve as a substitute for teachers and administrative staff members when necessary, evaluating lesson plans and maintaining a system for textbook accountability.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of four (4) years of teaching or training experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or paid, exempt level directly relevant experience. A Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field is preferred, along with five (5) years of progressive professional responsibility for management and administration of educational programs experience. Tennessee Administrative License is required, with Counseling or Teaching License preferred.
